Moving Toys
The toys in this section were all designed to move. Moving toys range from push and pull toys to more complex clockwork and battery-operated toys.
Pushes & Pulls
These toys all move using a simple push or pull. This force comes either from your hand or from a natural force in nature like gravity.
Springs & Cogs
These toys move using the power of springs. You either push the spring down or wind it up. Simple spring toys store energy in a coil for a short time when you push it tightly together or pull it apart.
Circuits & Motors
Electricity gives toys the power to move by themselves. Electric circuits are powered by motors. This power can be provided by batteries or mains electricity.
Optical Toys
Optical toys have been educating and entertaining people for hundreds of years. They were especially popular as family entertainment during Queen Victoria's reign (1837-1901).
