The River Journey by Jean Gibbins

The Heroic Quest
Paddle-to-the-Sea, Canadian story

Inspired by a dream, a native Canadian boy carved a wooden canoe, a man and a paddle, naming him Paddle-to-the-Sea. He sent him on a journey through the Great Lakes to the open sea. Four years later the journey ended with Paddle, often rescued and repaired, now famous. This story is said to come from the Ojobway people of Nipigon, Ontario.
