The 500th contribution to the World Beach Project has just been published! Congratulations Everybody! I wonder… is it pure coincidence that the entries attached to these landmark numbers* seem particularly apposite? People chose to write many things in the text box alongside their stone drawings. In the 500th, Tim Spain talks of ‘Galaxies like grains of sand’ For me, this links right back to a profound, sudden understanding experienced alone on an expansive beach in N Wales four years ago. Of how every single rock, stone and grain of sand is different, everywhere; always has been and always will be. A parallel to the mind-exploding almost beyond comprehension vastness of the Universe and Infinity. Well, there is no end date for World Beach and our creativity is also infinite…. Artists in Residence at the V&A
With an exciting and ever-changing programme of artists and designers, there’s never a dull moment in our residency studios. We will give you an exclusive look into what it’s like to be in residence at the world’s greatest museum of art and design.
We have a thriving and exciting programme of artists in residence here at the Museum, with at least two practitioners inhabiting our studios at any given time.
Here we show the process of being an artist or designer in residence here at the V&A, with behind-the-scenes insights and stories from Residency Co-ordinator, Laura Southall, and the artists themselves.
