Just over a month into my residency, and settling in well.
Alongside working with the Exhibition Road site and team, I’ve also been exploring the V&A, including Blythe House where they item not on display from the V&A’s collection for either conservation and/or storage.
Two videos are a result of these explorations. Firstly is a distortion of the tiled floor outside Gallery 100, where the A History of Photography – Series and Sequence exhibition became the starting point for a gallery talk looking at the similarities, and differences of films analogue process, and videos digital process of representation.

The second was shot at Blyth house, where an example of the tiled floor that will feature at the new Exhibition Road entrance is being tested.

Both videos use rapid movement to create juxtapositions of graphic shapes producing illusory movement and depth. The graphic forms flicker in and out of representation and abstraction, highlighting the works production within the image.
