Video games are a wonderful way to convey ideas, tell stories, educate and create playful experiences. For this eight part free workshop series, we will use the internet as our playground by exploring p5js with support from Goldsmiths College and the Processing Foundation.

p5js is an open source Javascript library developed by the Processing Foundation to make coding more accessible to artists, designers and educators. The games made through the summer will then be showcased at the Digital Design Weekend, the V&A’s festival of the latest in digital art and design, bringing together projects from across different practices and disciplines for display in the beautiful setting of the museum.

What You’ll Learn

Developed for creative people, we will assume no prior knowledge in programming or game design. By the end of the 6 workshops you’ll have used the p5js to create your own working prototype game which you will then be able to play.

Who Are Code Liberation?

Code Liberation catalyzes the creation of digital games and creative technologies by women, nonbinary, femme and girl-identifying people to diversify STEAM fields. Founded in 2013, we’ve reached around 2,500 women started a UK chapter in 2016.

These workshops are open to women, nonbinary, femme, and girl-identifying people from all walks of life.

We can provide all the kit you need including laptops and electronics, but if you would rather use your own computer then you are free to bring it in.
