The Victoria and Albert Museum, London, is the world's leading museum of art and design. Our aim is to enrich people’s lives by promoting knowledge, understanding and enjoyment of the designed world.

Search the Collections is a working database providing online access to over 1.1 million catalogue records and over 293,000 images of objects in our collection. Records vary in quality and reliability and we are continually enriching and updating the database. New text and images are added each month.

We are grateful to all those who take the time to write to us here to suggest improvements to the records.

The V&A's collections also include the National Art Library, the Archive of Art and Design, and the library collections of the Theatre & Performance Department. These are catalogued on a separate library database http://catalogue.nal.vam.ac.uk/ also available on the V&A website.
