Graphic Gathering is the V&A's annual Graphic Design competition. This year we worked with Art on the Underground to provide an exciting live brief for students. Keep an eye out for the winning design which will go on display on the Tube network in the Summer term. Bookings for the 2016/17 competition will open later in the Summer term.
More information about the 2015/16 brief:
Art on the Underground (AOTU) launched in 2000 and is London’s largest art programme. The programme includes commissions, such as the Pocket Tube map cover series, artists’ posters and the ongoing Line Series, inviting artists to make new artworks across entire Tube lines.
Design a poster for the London Underground that conveys the ‘language of London’. The poster will go on display around the Tube network and will be seen by millions of people each day.
This two-day project consists of a group briefing and culminates in a student presentation day to a panel of industry experts and other participating schools. On Day One students will be invited to the Museum for an industry briefing with Art on the Underground and the V&A. Winners and runners-up will return on Day Two for the final judging day.
'You have given a very talented young designer a fantastic platform and a step towards a successful career. I am hoping that winning this competition will make him realise just how talented he is!'- Teacher, Graphic Gathering 2014/15
