Have you got into the latest fashion trend yet? Layering is a brilliant styling hack and we can’t get enough of it. The trend is great for many reasons: it gives you the chance to add your own personality to outfits, it helps you to stay warm (while looking cool), and means you can add a fun new flair to old clothes that you’re bored of! What’s not to love? Here’s some of our favourite ways to layer up this spring…
Dresses over trousers/ jeans
This Y2K trend was a massive thing in the 2000s, and is yet again making another comeback for 2026. Wearing a dress over trousers is a super fashionable right now – and it’s also a great way to layer up while it’s still a bit colder. Not only this, but it can be a great way to make the most out of dresses that are just a tad too short to wear with tights! Practical and stylish – it gets a tick from us!
Short sleeve over long sleeve
This is a vintage classic! Short sleeved tops over long sleeved shirts or tees is a vintage trend that has made a sneaky comeback. It was originally big in the 1990s and 2000s, and popular amongst skaters with oversized clothing, but it has now regained popularity in the fashion world. You can achieve this vibe simply wearing an oversized t-shirt over a long sleeved top, shirt or hoody. It’s super easy and a great way of giving your otherwise old clothes a fresh new look! Plus, if you get the colour combos right it can look extra cool.
Layering button ups
Button up tops and shirts have been a staple in fashion for a while now, (think vintage recall from the 90s basic looks), and 2026 is no different! But this new trend sees them layered over each other for a fresh take. Try wearing them under vests – or double up your shirts for two collars at the top. Sounds weird, but it’ll keep you feeling warm and looking cool at the same time!
Lots of thin layers together

Another trend in the layering world is wearing lots of thin, sheer type materials over one another. These materials can often look a bit see through when worn alone, but layering them can solve that problem whilst also getting you bang on trend. Try a lightweight long sleeve top with two different coloured vests over it for a very crafted and chic vibe. You’ll be mistaken for a Parisian before you know it!
Clashing colours and prints

For an extra pop of fun, try some of these layering looks with clashing prints. Things like stripes and spots, or an animal print with a bold colour can work really well for example. Layering different kinds of prints is a great way to add your identity and style to your outfit – making sure that your personality comes across before you’ve even spoken to anyone!. Fashion should always be an expression of your identity and so why not have some fun with it!
