Chalamet or V&A?

6 times that style icon Timothée Chalamet’s best outfits were so good, they could have been in a museum…

Timothée Chalamet is undoubtedly a male fashion icon, but we’ve searched the V&A museum collection and found some surprising object twins. Read on and find out who wore it best? Chalamet or V&A?

This is one of Timmy’s most daring red carpet looks – a custom backless halter jumpsuit, designed by Haider Ackermann, which he wore at the premiere of Bones and All in Venice 2022. However, did he get his inspiration from this sumptuous four poster bed with silk hangings, made in the 1670s? Probably not – but you never know.

This androgynous liquid silver suit is also by designer Haider Ackermann, he and Timothée are longtime friends. Chalamet lit up the red carpet for the premiere of The King in Venice 2019 but we think this shining silver candlestick has just the same charismatic silhouette.

Here’s everyone’s favourite internet boyfriend back in 2017, at the Berlin Film Festival, promoting Call Me By Your Name. And here is a green woodpecker porcelain figure made for Augustus the Strong’s pleasure palace in Dresden back in the 1740s. Uncanny resemblance, right?

Timothée stepped out in this fab floral mens’ suit by Alexander McQueen for the red carpet world premiere of ‘Beautiful Boy’ in London. Men, florals, everything made us think of this Japanese inro – a beautifully decorated container that men in the 1750s wore on a belt to carry all their important bits and pieces.

At the BAFTAs in 2019, Chalamet sported this matching blazer and shirt ensemble. Did you know, he does a lot of his own red carpet styling himself, finding designers he loves working with to create these striking looks that get everyone talking.  And who wouldn’t talk when you look exactly like a traditional Swedish cloak clasp.

Timothée Chalamet looking determined in forthcoming movie Dune: Part 2, put us in mind of this charming yet slightly terrifying wax model of a Bernadine Nun. You really can find anything in the V&A collection.
