A major new fashion exhibition in Scotland, Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show is on now at V&A Dundee until 17 January 2027. The exhibition explores more than 100 years of fashion show history, from intimate couture salons in the late 19th century to today’s immersive, livestreamed runway spectacles.
2. You’ll see iconic moments from legendary fashion houses
The exhibition brings together unforgettable runway moments from some of the world’s most influential fashion houses and designers, including Alexander McQueen, Chanel, Dior, Vivienne Westwood, Gucci, Balenciaga, Maison Margiela and Louis Vuitton.
3. It’s a multi-sensory exhibition
Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show is an immersive fashion exhibition featuring film, photography, archival materials and iconic runway looks. Exploring the evolution of the fashion show over the last century, the exhibition highlights the creativity behind runway staging, spectacle and performance
4. It showcases Scottish designers on the global stage
Alongside internationally renowned fashion houses, the exhibition also highlights designers and moments connected to Scotland’s global influence on fashion culture. Featured names include Stella McCartney, Christopher Kane, Nicholas Daley and Charles Jeffrey, whose work has helped shape contemporary fashion internationally.
The exhibition also reflects on major fashion moments staged in Scotland, including spectacular runway presentations by Dior at Drummond Castle and Chanel at Linlithgow Palace, showing how Scottish landscapes and heritage continue to inspire the global fashion industry.
