5 Ways to Celebrate the World Cup at V&A Dundee
The world cup is here and V&A Dundee are celebrating. Here are five ways to get involved at Scotland's design museum.
1. Drop-in to our free workshop and customise your favourite football top
Drop-in to our free workshop with embroidery artist and designer Diana Al Shammari, also known as The Football Gal. Experiment with embroidery, fabric paint, accessories and custom details to transform your kit into a unique piece of wearable design.
2. Discover where football meets fashion
Explore Football Couture, a free pop-up display at V&A Dundee, celebrating the creative connection between football and fashion. Featuring designs inspired by the beautiful game from brands and designers including Balenciaga, Versace and Yohji Yamamoto, the display reveals how football has influenced style both on and off the pitch. Visitors can also enter a special raffle for a chance to win one of the objects on display.
3. Join us for a day of football-inspired design challenges
Join V&A Dundee for an action-packed day of football-inspired fun as part of Dundee's first city-wide Play Festival. Design your own supporter scarf with artist Aoife Cawley, then enjoy retro football action with FlickForKicks' handcrafted tabletop Subbuteo arena.
4. Spot Football Connections Across the Museum
Football appears in surprising places throughout V&A Dundee. In Design and Disability, look out for the B1 Blue Flame Football, designed to make the game more accessible for players with visual impairments. In Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show, discover footage from Balenciaga’s Climate Show and see how football kits were reimagined as high-fashion statements. Then head to the Scottish Design Galleries to see Atelier E.B’s Dalglish Jumper, a work that explores the connections between football, fashion, identity and social change.
5. Enjoy Match Day Specials at Tatha Bar & Kitchen
From 14 June, fuel your football fever with a selection of limited‑edition specials at Tatha Bar & Kitchen, located at V&A Dundee. Inspired by Scotland’s World Cup journey, each dish pairs seasonal Scottish produce with flavours from the nations Scotland will face on the pitch. Follow Scotland’s route through the tournament, one plate at a time.
