MÒR AND BEAG: The Saga Of The Linton Worm
Webcomic cover showing a ginger bearded Scotsman in Highland gear alongside a green goblin and a black ram with the comic's title above them saying "The Chronicles of Mòr and Beag: Case of the Linton Worm".
An illustrated sign nailed to wood that reads "Many years ago on the banks of the Tay resided the Penguin Inn, known as the Inn of Heroes. The inn was home to great heroes, unfortunately this story is about the other ones."
Chapter one of the webcomic, an inn sits on the water's edge in Dundee back in the olden days. Beag slaps down a poster ad needing heroes to hunt the Linton Worm saying it's their big break.
The comic continues by showing the old wall of heroes which consists of trophy heads and skulls from mythical beasts. beag says they'll finally get on that wall by hunting that worm.
Mòr agrees that it's just a worm so maybe they can hunt it. Beag asks the ram, Cleas, what he thinks and he chomps away on grass which Beag takes for meaning he agrees. Beag asks what's the worst that could happen.
The background is huge letters saying GRRRR as Mòr and Beag run away with the ram under their arm shouting "it got worse!".
Front cover of part 2 of the webcomic. Mòr and Beag ride on their black goat with wee flags saying "Quest or bust" and "for hire".
Chapter 2 of the comic shows Beag with hundreds of weapons rubbing her hand gleefully asking "who's up for a roadtrip!?" Mòr replies saying she can't take so many weapons with her.
Beag exclaims that a;; that "stuff" is weapons so she can kick butt. Mòr says she can take one sword only which she agrees to as long as she can also bring along one carry on.
The group are on their way on the goat, wondering what could be waiting for them up ahead, over the hill.
The gang look at what they wonder is the Linton Worm they're there to apprehend and it's a tiny worm stood next to a cow. As they wonder if it's the worm they're after, it chomps the cow in one bite, leaving only its hooves.
Front cover of part 3 of the webcomic. The Linton Worm can be seen in the distance snarling at Mòr and Beag.
The gang recount the wanted poster which featured the Linton Worm, remembering that it is said to be stronger than steel. They make a plan to apprehend the Linton Worm and appear confident in their abilities!
Mòr begins to conjure up a spell out loud, then a purple force appears between his hands. He then attempts to inflict the spell on the Linton Worn to make it shrink down in size. Beag watched on in hopefully anticipation, ready to slay the shrunken worm as they had planned.
Suddenly Mòr and Beag can be seen shrieking in terror with their mouths agasp. Beag then quickly retreats exclaiming, "I'm outta here...".
This single panel image shows the Linton Worm towering over silhouettes of Mòr and Beag. Mòr's spell seems to have had the opposite effect than he intended.
Front cover of part 4 of the webcomic. Our heroes are stood together looking up while bathed in a massive shadow of the work monster they are about to fight.
While the worm monster eats its way through crowds of people in the distance of the comic, our heroes are arguing about leaving or fixing this situtation. Beag accuses Mor of it being his fault because of his stutter.
Mor is outraged at the accusation and says he's super sensitive about his stutter. Then he accuses Beag of always leaving when the going gets tough. And says "run away then, you'll never be a true hero!". Beag is shaken at this.
Beag is shaken by what Mor just said and the comic depicts the many people in her life who has said elves can't be heroes or that she'll never be one. She snaps and shouts that she can and then requests Cleas the ram to bring her big weapon over.
Wide shot of Beag flying through the air after being launched by a trebuchet. She's clutching a huge sword in her hand and flies towards the giant worm. Mor is below incanting a spell as pink magic energy spews out of his hands at the worm.
Beag is flying close to the worm and as she gets closer the worm shrinks thats to Mor's spell. When Beag's sword finally connects with the worm, it's very wee and she cuts its head off.
Close up of Beag's hand holding the worm's now tiny head. She says "well that was easier than I imagined".
The heroes are happy and head for home. Beag comments that the worm's head won't look as impressive on the plaque now, but Mor says he has a spell for that. As the heroes depart, the decapitated worm behind them gets a new head with a magic "pop".
The wall of heroes, covered in plaques with creature heads mounted on them. In the middle is a big shield with a tiny worm head on it, labelled as "Mor and Beag Linton Worm".
