Unfortunate Inheritances: slave-ownership and the V&A

Explore the links between British slave-ownership and the development of the V&A.

Poet, artist and writer Victoria Adukwei Bulley will be talking to historian Dr Hannah Young about her experience of trying to unearth the names, lives and experiences of individuals whose enslavement is ineffably tied to items held within the museum’s collections.

The conversation will highlight how important critical interventions can be in helping museums engage with more complex and inclusive histories, while discussing the difficulties involved in embedding such work in a more permanent and long-lasting basis.
