Will a Robot Replace My Surgeon?

How new technology might transform the future of healthcare

Robotic surgery is a rapidly progressing field, with over 4,500 robots operating systems worldwide. It is therefore increasingly important to understand how these exciting new technology advances are likely to transform future healthcare.

Dundee Surgical Skills Centre is in the process of developing the first robotic training programme in Scotland, having recently installed a training robot.

Dr Vanessa Kay, Co-Director of the Dundee Institute of Healthcare Simulation, will review recent changes in surgical practice, focusing on the increasing role of robotic assisted surgery across various disciplines. Film footage will demonstrate how robotic surgery is performed, and the enhanced precision and vision it enables.

Our Lunchtime Talks include a range of speakers unearthing little-known stories of Scottish design with international impact. Feel free to bring your lunch, or a coffee from the café.
