Online: In Conversation with Yinka Ilori

Tune in online to explore the colourful, joyous world of Yinka Ilori

Yinka Ilori is a multidisciplinary artist who fuses his British and Nigerian heritage to tell new stories in contemporary design. He began his practice in 2011, up-cycling vintage furniture, inspired by the traditional Nigerian parables and West African fabrics that surrounded him as a child.

In Listening to Joy, his vibrant interactive installation at V&A Dundee, Yinka explores play and design through an immersive and multisensory experience.

For this conversation Yinka will be joined in V&A Dundee by Director Leonie Bell and Tamsie Thomson, CEO at The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland. Tamsie first encountered Yinka’s practice while leading a team to find and support emerging architectural and design talent as part of the London Festival of Architecture. Speaking about the works she commissioned, Tamsie comments:

"Yinka’s work brings a fresh approach, which deeply understands the complexities of how to make spaces for people. Yinka has created beautiful spaces bringing joy to the everyday and especially in Happy Street, improving people's everyday lives."

Join us to discuss Yinka’s new installation, wider influences, and other key works.

Designed for families of all ages, Yinka Ilori: Listening to Joy, is on now until Sunday, 24 April 2022.

This event will be BSL interpreted by Leigh Anderson. For any enquiries regarding interpretation please contact access@vandadundee.org
