Architectural writer Nana Biamah-Ofosu interviews Dundee-based textile designer Hannah Sabapathy in this month’s episode of Design in the Diaspora, our series exploring the work of contemporary designers and creatives from diasporic communities across Scotland.

Hannah Sabapathy trained at the Royal College Art as a printed textiles designer. Her practice focuses on pattern and colour. Her work ranges from small scale jewellery pieces to large sculptural furniture. Recently as part of the UAL 20/20 Residency she has begun to research and examine the impact of colonialism on Indian textile design whilst exploring themes of hybridity and appropriation. She is based in Dundee.

Nana Biamah-Ofosu is an architect, educator, researcher, writer. She is the director of London based YAA Projects, an architecture, design and research practice interested in making, speaking and writing architecture. Her research interests include questions on communality, domesticity, identity and geography. Nana also contributes to leading architecture and design journals and publications in the U.K and internationally.
