New Skills: Illustrating Identity

Meet designer Ursula Kam-Ling Cheng and help develop a large-scale illustrated design for our next exhibition

In this experimental workshop, Ursula will discuss how she creates large-scale artworks with inks, Perspex and neon spray-paints before you design different illustrations together exploring identity and character. She will then take inspiration from the work created and some of the portraits and motifs will feature in a new commission which will be on display in our Videogames: Design/Play/Disrupt exhibition.

Northern-Irish born and now based in Scotland, Ursula is an illustrator and visual live drawing media artist. Fantasy, surreal realities and dreamy nostalgia absorb into her intricate, riotous ink drawings. In an age of digital culture and information overload, Ursula's work harnesses the power of the hyperactive mind, with playful candy colours fusing to create her own unique and exciting visual language.

With a focus on design skills, these monthly practical workshops are led by practicing designer. All materials are provided.
