New Skills: Playing with Pattern

Learn how to transform collages into surface pattern designs

Meet Kirsty Stevens from Charcot and see how she uses experimental techniques to create beautiful patterns from her own MRI scans and applies these to a range of products. You can then create your own paper surface pattern inspired by Kirsty's process.

Taken in the lead up to her diagnosis of MS in 2007, designer Kirsty Stevens uses the shapes created by harmful lesions on her brain as source material. Turning this negative into an unrecognisable positive, she incorporates the scans in her high-end designs.

With a focus on design skills, these monthly practical workshops are led by practising designers. All materials are provided.
