Q. What is David Bowie: On Tour?

A. David Bowie: On Tour is the V&A’s new national tour celebrating the creativity and enduring cultural impact of David Bowie. Featuring around 100 highlights from the V&A’s David Bowie archive, including costumes, musical instruments, photography, handwritten materials such as lyrics and performance notes. The objects included give a glimpse into David Bowie’s creative process and how he shaped his iconic image, music, video, TV and film work.

Q. I want to know more about what will be included in David Bowie: On Tour?

A. There are some items never shown in public before, including a Ziggy Stardust-era acoustic guitar, unrealised projects, and handwritten lyrics, performance notes and costumes from Bowie’s final albums, The Next Day and ★ (Blackstar). Full details can be found on the tour page.

Q. When will it be on display at V&A Dundee?

A. David Bowie: On Tour will open on Wednesday 4 November 2026 and will be on display until Monday 15 February 2027, excluding 25, 26 December and 1 January.

Q. Where will it be in the museum?

A. David Bowie: On Tour will be in Gallery 2, on Level 2 of the museum.

Q. Where else in the UK can I see David Bowie: On Tour?

A. After V&A Dundee, the tour continues to Showtown Blackpool (June 2027 to September 2027), Bowes Museum in County Durham (October 2027 to January 2028), Ferens Art Gallery in Hull (February 2028 to May 2028) Bristol Museum and Art Gallery (June 2028 – September 2028.)

Q. Where is the V&A David Bowie Centre?

A. David Bowie: On Tour comes from the David Bowie Centre at V&A East Storehouse, which is the permanent home for David Bowie’s archive and offers a free Order an Object service for visitors who want to delve deeper into the archive. V&A East Storehouse is in Hackney Wick, London, E20 3AX.

Tickets

Q. When will tickets go on sale? 

A. Tickets for V&A Dundee will go on sale in late September. V&A Dundee Members will enjoy a priority booking window ahead of general sale. Make sure to sign up to our mailing list to be the first to hear when tickets will go on sale.  

Q. Will there be concession tickets? 

A. Yes, our standard V&A Dundee concessions will apply. Members, under 18’s and carers go free.

Q. How do I become a V&A Dundee Member?

A. You can join online, over the phone or in the museum at the Welcome Desk in the museum. Visit our Membership page to explore Membership types and benefits, starting from just £28 per year.

Q. I’m a V&A Dundee Member, will I need to book a ticket?

A. V&A Dundee Members will get free entry; as demand is expected to be high, pre-booking will be required. There will be a priority booking window just for V&A Dundee Members, with further details shared in September.

Q. I’m a V&A South Kensington Member – can I see David Bowie: On Tour at V&A Dundee for free?

A. Yes, V&A South Kensington Members will be able to see David Bowie: On Tour for free. Advance booking will be required and you will need to present your valid Membership card along with your ticket. Further information on how to book will be shared in September.
