V&A Dundee 2028

We are inviting members of the public to submit their treasured items from their own homes to go on display in our reimagined Scottish Design Galleries from 2028.

We welcome all objects that make you think of Scotland and what it means to be Scottish. This will allow us to enrich, broaden and diversify the stories we are telling through a people’s collection. Connections to Scotland could, for example, include being designed, made, owned or bought in Scotland, or brought here by people who have made Scotland their home.

To submit a personal object, send us an email to myobject@vandadundee.org by 31 August 2026.

We want people’s stories to be at the heart of the redesigned galleries, celebrating Scotland as a country that has been creating, designing and making for thousands of years.

2028 will be the tenth birthday of the museum. We have learnt so much from our visitors already. We know you love the extraordinary architecture and want a beautiful, relaxing space to spend time with the people who are important to you, to escape from the world outside, and to explore your passion for creativity.

We want V&A Dundee to do more: to be more fun and enjoyable, to show more objects that inspire creativity and pride in Dundee and Scotland, and to bring more visitors to our incredible city.

With the support of £2.6 million from the UK Government, we are redesigning our free Scottish Design Galleries and the broader visitor experience from the moment you walk in. We will create a warmer, more welcoming museum, building on the success of our major exhibitions and learning from your feedback.

The refreshed Scottish Design Galleries will reopen in 2028, with more details to be announced nearer to the time.
