Discotheques and underground dives – Scotland has had no shortage of brilliant, beloved nightclubs

Nightclubs are important spaces for people to seek pleasure, forget themselves and find acceptance amongst like-minded communities.

Join our curator Kirsty Hassard and cultural historian Mairi MacKenzie as they explore the particularly rich and eclectic period in Scottish clubbing history of 1987-1997 – the decade which saw clubbing become a mainstay of youth culture.

Mairi MacKenzie is a cultural historian and consultant curator for the Scottish iteration of Night Fever: Designing Club Culture. She is Research Fellow in Fashion and Textiles at Glasgow School of Art.

Kirsty Hassard is a Curator at V&A Dundee and has worked on a range of exhibitions including Night Fever: Designing Club Culture.
