Discover the stories behind the show in this exclusive tour of Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show. Exhibition curators Kirsty Hassard and Svetlana Panova, will be joined by renowned and award-winning fashion writer, professor, editor and seasoned front row habitué Iain R Webb.
From curators sourcing objects that have never before been displayed, to Iain R Webb’s personal tales from his decades of attending the world’s most iconic fashion shows, you will be guided through the exhibition’s highlights with unique stories.
Ticket price includes entry to the exhibition, and a meeting with the guides before the tour begins, where you’ll get an exclusive look at of some of Iain’s personal archive of fashion show ephemera and bespoke invitations.
Due to limited spaces, there are two tour slots available to choose from: Afternoon (14.00) and After Hours (18.30).
About
Iain R Webb
Iain R Webb is a writer, curator and Professor of Fashion & Design at Kingston School of Art. He studied Fashion Design at St Martin’s School of Art (1977-1980), going on to become fashion editor/director of BLITZ, London Evening Standard, Harpers & Queen, The Times and Elle. He has contributed to various publications including New York Times, New Musical Express, Ponystep and Vogue. Webb is the author of Bill Gibb – Fashion and Fantasy; Postcards From the Edge of the Catwalk; As Seen in BLITZ; Vogue Colouring Book and Rebel Stylist, among others. Curatorial projects include exhibitions at ICA, RCA, MoBA Biennale, Somerset House, Fashion Museum, Bath and V&A Dundee.
Kirsty Hassard
Kirsty Hassard is a senior curator and fashion historian at V&A Dundee, and previously worked in the Furniture, Textiles and Fashion department at V&A South Kensington. She co-curated V&A Dundee’s flagship Tartan exhibition, as well as Night Fever: Designing Club Culture, Mary Quant, and Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show. She has published on women and work, Frances Farquharson, and the relationship between fashion and print culture in the eighteenth century.
Svetlana Panova
Svetlana Panova is an assistant curator at V&A Dundee and co-curator of Catwalk: The Art of the Fashion Show. She works across design disciplines and holds a Contemporary Art Practice degree. As well as working across the A Fragile Correspondence exhibition in 2024, she previously led the Jerwood Art Fund Makers Open project at Aberdeen Archives, Galleries and Museums, and curated Alice Irwin: Chinwag at Pitzhanger Manor & Gallery in London.
