Dungeons & Gardens

Saturday 6 December

An epic D&D fantasy adventure awaits in the garden realm!

Join us for a session of Dungeons & Gardens and experience a ‘one-shot adventure’ inspired by our major exhibition, Garden Futures: Designing with Nature. With five Dungeon Masters across five tables, players will enjoy an epic 3-hour adventure of heroic quests, storytelling and role-play. Explore fantasy worlds, face botanical beasts and venture on courageous campaigns during this inclusive, non-competitive event.

Please note:

There are two sessions to choose from: morning or afternoon. This event is beginner-friendly and players of all skill levels are welcome to attend. A prearrival questionnaire and FAQs will be emailed to ticket holders in advance. Light tea and coffee refreshments will be provided on the day.

About the game:

Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) is a fantasy tabletop role-play game owned by Wizards of the Coast. The game is led by a Dungeon Master, who serves as the storyteller, referee and designer of the game. The Dungeon Master narrates the adventure, describes the world, its inhabitants, and obstacles that arise during the game. Players control fictional characters and make choices that impact the developing adventure, with dice rolls determining the success of actions. Often involving exploration and problem-solving, the game uses rulebooks, dice and imagination, with the goal being shared fun and collaboration as players work together to tell a collective story.

Meet the Collaborators:

Daphne Bloemers has been running one-shots and a long campaign as a Dungeon Master for the past year. Her style is light-hearted, and she enjoys letting players develop creative solutions when facing obstacles. She has played various TTRPGs and loves D&D, Call of Cthulu, and Star Wars: Edge of the Empire.

Jamie Coventry is Dungeon Master Jamboist. He first played D&D in the long dark COVID-era over video call with acting college companions. What Jamie loves about D&D is the opportunity to use wacky voices and goofy movements to fully embody hand-crafted characters, something no other game can do!

Craig Low is a long time D&D player who has enjoyed exploring various editions of the game. He loves the collaborative storytelling aspect of D&D and it's ability to encourage ingenuity and inspire players to think outside the box.

Brett Murray has been playing D&D since 2018; at first reluctantly, and now obsessively, having had a weekly TTRPG campaign (or two) on the go since 2022. An American-born lover of 20th century pop-culture, his collaborative and improvisational GM style is welcoming to both novice and competent adventurers.

Blair Watson is a veteran DM with 20 years of experience running tabletop RPGs. He has led DM masterclasses, written original campaigns, and participated in international RPG events, including a week-long workshop in Iceland. He is known for his lively storytelling and creating welcoming tables for all players.

Polyhedral Adventures have hosted D&D events for over 2,300 players at conventions like Tabletop Scotland and UK Games Expo since 2018. Join them as they bring you adventures inspired by the Garden Futures exhibition, all you need to bring is your imagination!
