Celebrate Upstart with lantern decorating and a final walking tour

Intrigued by how design can make an impact in Dundee? Join us for UPSTART’s finale and light a trail of creativity through the city!

We’ll start by adding our wishes, dreams and creative ambitions to paper lanterns for UPSTART’s closing celebration, with music, snacks and mocktails as we celebrate creative careers and what design means to us before heading out on a walking tour of Dundee.

On the walking tour we will explore new work by Ythan Evans, Ailsa MacLennan, Iona Dawson and Sarah Robinson. Curated and produced by YPC, the commissions are installed on hoardings and billboards across Dundee, bringing contemporary creative practice directly into the city’s streets.

Led by the participating DJCAD graduates and YPC members, this walking tour offers an opportunity to hear about the creative process behind the commissions and explore how design can shape and transform public space in Dundee.

As part of our Upstart: Creative Careers Festival, take a look at the full programme here.

Accessibility

Our route tours regular public access routes and should be accessible for those with additional support needs, with staff members on hand to help if required.

While we cannot confirm the time spent at each billboard, we also welcome those who want to join the tour part way and have listed stops for your convenience. Get in touch if you have any additional concerns at learn@vandadundee.org.
