Nacre and the Grain: Contemporary Jewellery and the Scottish Landscape

Friday 29 May

In collaboration with Art Jewelry Forum and Craft Scotland

10.30–11.15: Presentation, Juniper Auditorium

Join us for an engaging exploration of how Scotland’s landscapes inspire contemporary jewellery. Kristin Beeler (DJCAD) and Professor Emeritus Dr Sandra Wilson (University of Dundee) present Nacre and the Grain. From the sourcing of natural materials such as pearls (nacre) in Scotland to scientific techniques to recover precious metals from electronic waste (grain) this event focuses on the underlying connections between landscape and its impact on contemporary jewellery in Scotland.

12.00 – 14.00: Meet the Artists in our Robertson Studio

Meet contemporary Scotland-based jewellers, including Emma Louise Wilson, Stefanie Cheong, Iona Turner, and Michelle Currie and see a showcase of their work, demonstrating its relationship to the natural world.
