Queer to Stay Sharing

Saturday, 10 June 2023

Join us to celebrate Shaper/Caper's first ever Queer to Stay cohort!

Shaper/Caper's Queer to Stay is a yearlong development programme that provides bursary support, masterclasses, and opportunities for LGBTQ+ creatives.

Come along to meet three creatives supported by this ground-breaking programme, ask questions and learn about their creative practice and work.

MEET THE CREATIVES:

Sculptor Ciaran Cannon whose work embraces the queer qualities of nature and investigates material possibilities through found, salvaged, and repurposed objects. As a queer trans man, he draws parallels between these overlooked objects and the queer experience.

Leyla Hussain is a Dundonian Scottish-Pakistani and Saudi trans woman specialising in illustration and literature. Spanning video, printmaking, and performance, her work explores trauma, religion, and repression while creating pieces with an air of fantasy.

Levi Richards works across illustration, marketing, and print. He also co-run’s the small press Door Ajar Comics. During a residency at Out of the Blueprint risograph studio, Levi explored riso and gocco printing processes as a way to celebrate and commit queer influences to memory.

Queer to Stay was made possible by Creative Scotland’s Create Inclusion Fund.
