Sacred Gardens: Understanding Islamic Garden Design

Sunday 18 January

Explore the spiritual, cultural, and artistic importance of gardens in Islamic traditions

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll experiment with Islamic geometric design, arabesque patterns, and calligraphy while discovering how Islamic garden traditions have influenced and been influenced by cultures around the globe.

This sensory and reflective experience is designed to create a deeper understanding, create connection, and inspire creativity. Discover the longstanding relationship between Islam and the concept of the garden, both as a spiritual symbol and as a design motif. You’ll learn how gardens have shaped Islamic art, architecture, and imagination across different regions and time periods.

Join us in celebrating design themes of nature, beauty, peace, and harmony shared across cultures.
