Join us for an evening of food and storytelling at Tatha Bar & Kitchen, featuring Palestinian–British chef, author and co-founder of the Ottolenghi restaurants, Sami Tamimi.
This dinner marks the launch of Sami’s first solo cookbook, Boustany: A Celebration of Vegetables from My Palestine. The menu is a vibrant, seasonal vegetarian offering rooted in Palestinian culinary traditions and designed to be shared, family-style.
This special event brings together themes from our current exhibitions Thread Memory: Embroidery from Palestine and Garden Futures: Designing with Nature.
Sami is co-author of best-selling titles including Falastin, Jerusalem and Ottolenghi: The Cookbook. His cooking celebrates the deep connections between food, culture and identity – a spirit that flows through this warm and heartfelt dining experience.
Sami says: “For me, cooking and writing are a way of keeping my homeland alive. Every recipe carries the memories, flavours, and stories of Palestine. Our food is a living expression of beauty, rooted in cultural traditions that have been lovingly passed down through generations. By sharing these dishes, we preserve our heritage and pass it on, one dish at a time.”
Take in the scenic riverside views from our unique setting over the River Tay as Sami and the Heritage Portfolio team bring this soulful menu to life.
Menu highlights include:
- A selection of mezze-style starters to share
- Palestinian vegetable-led main dishes packed with texture and flavour
-
A dessert inspired by seasonal ingredients
Tickets are limited – early booking is strongly recommended. Thread Memory in Gallery 2 will be open prior to the start of service.
Copies of Sami’s new cookbook, Boustany: A Celebration of Vegetables from My Palestine, will also be available to purchase on the night.
The event is non-profit, with all proceeds ensuring that contributors are paid fairly, as well as covering ingredient costs. Thank you to our catering partners Heritage Portfolio who will be making a donation to the Palestinian Museum in Birzeit, West Bank, in association with this event.
