Upstart Online: Careers in Sustainable Furniture and Jewellery Design
Join our Young Peoples Collective in conversation with Lorna Ross and Mike Story from Angus Ross Furniture and Jewellery Designer Amy Peoples.
Amy Peoples' brand is centred around designing bespoke jewellery to improve the wearer’s mental health. Allowing the wearer to hold a physical connection to their happy place in a subtle, private way – enhancing holistic practices such as mindfulness no matter where they are.
Mike Story is a senior furniture maker at Angus Ross Furniture having started as an apprentice over a decade ago. Angus Ross furniture combine new technology with ancient techniques such as steam-bending, to create exciting flowing forms, from small section air dried wood. Oak is sourced from a local woodland co-owned by Angus and Lorna Ross with a group including foresters and a saw-miller.
Hear how these designers’ careers have been shaped by tackling sustainability through their practice and choice of materials.
This talk will include a Q&A.
This talk is intended for young people aged 14-24 years.
This event is a part of Upstart Creative Careers Festival 2022.
