Our online learning webinars, lectures and discussions are hosted on Zoom or broadcast via YouTube.

Before joining, please be aware of our Code of Conduct.

V&A Dundee is committed to making our programme as accessible as possible. We can offer BSL interpretation and live closed captions for some events and aim to share accessible event recordings where possible. If you have any access needs, please get in touch via access@vandadundee.org and we will do our best to meet these.

Joining online events

How do I attend online events and talks?
To attend any of our ticketed events please book via our website. To see what’s coming up check out our What’s On. After booking, you will receive a unique link on the morning of the event to access the event online.

Do I need a Zoom account to join online events?
You do not need to create a Zoom account to attend our online events.

Do I need to install Zoom on my device to attend V&A Dundee online events?
Events on Zoom are accessible via some web browsers; however, we do recommend that you download Zoom for the best possible experience. Click the following links to download Zoom for Mac or Windows. Events broadcast on YouTube can be opened in any web browser.

Can I use my tablet or smart phone?
Yes! You can also access V&A Dundee’s online programme on your tablet or smartphone. To do this, please install the Zoom application (Apple/ Android) and open the event link on your mobile device. For events broadcast on YouTube, you can just open the link in a web browser.

Is my computer or device powerful enough?
If your device is less than 10 years old, it should be powerful enough for you to watch online talks or similar on Zoom. If you have used other platforms such as Google Hangout or Skype video, your computer or device will be powerful enough to run Zoom and watch events broadcast on YouTube.

How fast does my broadband need to be?
To ensure you have the best possible experience it is preferable to have a download speed of over 2MBps. You can check your broadband speed here.

I am having difficulties joining an online event, what can I do?
Where possible we can try to help you access online events, please contact us via tickets@vandadundee.org or call us on 01382411611. We have limited capacity to help with technical issues with your connection. You can also troubleshoot via Zoom’s FAQs.

Can under-18s attend Online Programme at V&A Dundee?
No. Unfortunately, owing to data protection and child protection policies, all attendees must be over 18.

During an online event

Can join the event early?
We recommend getting set up and join the link at least 5minutes early to avoid technical problems. When you join an event, you will see a holding slide until the event begins.

Will other attendees be able to see me, my name or email address?
You, your name and email address are not visible to other attendees at our online events.

Can I ask questions during events?
Yes! We encourage questions from the audience using the Q+A function in Zoom or in the comments section on YouTube. If you want to ask question in YouTube broadcast, you will need to be logged into your YouTube account.

What if I'm having issues with sound and/or visuals on screen?
If you’re having issues with sound, we recommend you check that your computer is not on mute, and the volume is up. If you’re having issues with visuals on screen, please try opening the link in a different browser as this may help.

What can I do if I am experiencing other technical issues?
We have limited capacity to troubleshoot during lives events, if you have experienced any technical problems you can troubleshoot via Zoom's FAQs.

After an online event

Will I be able to watch the event back later?
We hope to be able to publish our talks after they are broadcast, but we cannot guarantee that this will be possible for all events. Check out our YouTube Channel to see what’s available now.
