Sara Sallam is a multidisciplinary artist who grew up in Egypt and now lives in the Netherlands. Her research-based practice spans photography, moving images, writing, voice narration, archival interventions, and self-publishing handmade books. Sallam’s deeply personal and politically charged works interrogate archival silences, displacement, and forgotten perspectives. Through poetic reimaginings, she seeks to retell contested histories through counter-narratives centred on empathy to decolonise her Egyptian heritage. Sara was a Jameel Fellow at the V&A in 2023.
