I’m Arianne Shahvisi, a Kurdish-British philosopher based in Brighton. I am senior lecturer in ethics at the Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and I hold a PhD in philosophy of science from the University of Cambridge. My academic research focuses on gender, race, migration, science and language. I’m also a writer, and have contributed essays to the London Review of Books, the Independent, Verso and the Economist. My first book, on the philosophy of social justice, will be published by Penguin in 2022. I’m an associate editor for the Journal of Medical Ethics, a board member for Kohl: a Journal for Body and Gender Research and science editor for literary magazine The Offing. I also teach philosophy in my local community, through the Free University Brighton.
