Archive trip: Tokyo, Japan
As the archive in France largely holds womenswear and less of the older pieces, we also visited the archives in Japan. This was a very different experience indeed. Located in the industrial suburbs of Tokyo, our daily routine took us past Disneyland Tokyo to a warehouse where all the stock and the archives are held. Here we went through the same exercise as in France, but as the archive is less concise it took us a lot longer to get through. We did find some treasures and it was amazing to see and dress the menswear which will be on show at the V&A for the first time ever!
