Young V&A Open Day – January 2023

For team Young V&A, 2023 brings with it the excitement of being able to say, ‘we open this year!’ With the countdown to our museum opening now truly underway, it’s time for us to open our doors to the Tower Hamlets community and invite you to discover how you can be part of the adventure.

Community has been at the heart of the Young V&A redevelopment project from day one. From the co-curation of the museum with local schools and our Young Collective, to the involvement and work of local artists and designers in our gallery spaces.

While our museum carries with it a world-famous brand name, we are proud to be a museum at the heart of Bethnal Greens’ vibrant community and want to make sure that we provide opportunities for locals to get involved and help us to ensure the museum is a joyful and welcoming space for all our neighbours.

Open Day Event

As we get ready to welcome visitors, we are looking to expand our front-of-house teams. For those that want to get involved in bringing the museum to life for our young audiences, make connections with the community and build a range of transferable skills from creativity to leadership, join us in Bethnal Green on Saturday 21 January 2023 to find out how you can get involved with Young V&A!

Paid Opportunities

We are currently recruiting for full and part-time Front of House Assistants. Working across retail, ticketing, galleries, and the learning studio reception, they will be responsible for delivering excellent customer service, highlighting our commercial offers, and making sure every visitor feels welcome and engaged with the Young V&A.

Find out more about our paid opportunities on our Vacancies page.

Volunteering

Part of V&A FuturePlan is a reimagination and redesign of how the museum works alongside volunteers. We are extending our opportunities and launching new, inspiring ways to become part of our volunteering team. The Young V&A team will be kicking off this journey by bringing a host of new roles for you to get involved with for our Summer 2023 opening.

Young V&A provides an exciting opportunity to connect with a creative and cultural landscape for young people, and you can help bring it alive for our younger visitors. You can get hands-on supporting visitors on innovative interactives in our Play Gallery, use our collection to ignite young audiences’ imaginations through storytelling, or support activities that get young minds thinking about how design can change the world. By sharing your experience, time and passion you will be at the forefront of making a huge impact in the local community, while also supporting the future transformation of volunteering within the V&A.

If this sounds like something you want to hear more about then we look forward to meeting you at the Open Day where you can register your interest. Don’t worry if you can’t make it. We’ll be sharing more updates on these exciting volunteer developments and how you can apply on both the Young V&A and V&A South Kensington sites over the coming months.
