Janus fired!

November 13, 2009

Janus fired! The first version of Janus has now been fired, glazed, and decorated with a variety of ceramic prints (florals, patterns, text and imagery) and happily the pieces do fit together as planned. I’ve used my existing stock of prints for this piece, but will now take another pressing, to be decorated with more site-specific prints taken from the V&A collections.

Collage

Realising that the Janus head does not reflect the full cultural breadth of the collections, I’ve made a new series of drawings of heads in the museum, across a range of cultures, ethnicity and gender. I’ve started to collage elements of these together to create a series of multicultural heads, creating a kind of ‘indentikit’ system.
