The latest V&A Samsung Digital Classroom saw Andi Concha come along to the museum to lead a workshop in creating GIF animations. GIFs are ubiquitous online as a way of bringing moving images into webpages and are almost as old as the net itself. Recently there has been a resurgence in their popularity as they are simple to make, offer lots of creative potential and are small enough to share easily online. Without the humble GIF, the internet with its millions of memes would not be the same…
Andi’s playful animations and GIF pieces have been shown in both London and Madrid and use a variety of techniques, from rotoscoping and phtotography to illustration and model making. Through the day, students explored her different techniques by capturing film and photography in the galleries before transforming them into moving masterpieces. You can take a look at the work created on the day and also find links and tutorials here.
