In two weeks……

May 21, 2009

So, now that you know a bit more about my proposal concept and what it is I’m trying to achieve, (and if you don’t then read the post below), you’ll see that actually, I’ve made my life a bit difficult for myself. Yaay.

In the past week, panic-stricken and aging exponentially, I sent off a large number of emails to a selection of curators, asking very politely and officially for their help. The psychic workshops I hope to conduct are drawing ever closer (now in 2 weeks time) and this time last week I was still objectless – i.e I had no objects confirmed for the psychic to ‘read’ at the workshop.

Initially, I had gone round this fabulous Museum making a list of intriguing objects that I thought would be most fascinating for the psychic reading. And let me assure you there are plenty. It soon became clear, however, that most of the objects that I was interested in were not going to be easily available and understandably so. Especially if the psychic was going to have to touch the objects in order to be able to ‘read’ them.

Thankfully, many of the curators responded with good enthusiasm and I was getting useful, concise help from them about objects that could be used. One day, I was even taken into one of the textile/fashion store rooms and shown an array of interesting items of clothing which had much potential for the workshop. Another day, Catherine Howell – curator at the Museum of Childhood – came back to me with a fabulous and diverse range of objects which I can borrow. I was finally starting to get somewhere!

The only thing I can’t do at this point in time, is give you too much detail or show you pictures of the objects, because this may compromise the psychic’s reading.

But please check back in soon because I’ll be posting the results of the workshop here, as well as photos or perhaps some video footage of the workshop, which I heard today is fully booked.

If you were interested and wanted to come for the psychic workshop – don’t despair. We are trying to organise another one soon, most likely in early July. Ring the bookings office on 020 7942 2211 to put your name down.
