A bizarre, superficial, desirable, expensive, untouchable world stripped back.
This is what I have come to understand is the prophecy SHOWstudio preaches; it offers an exploration of every facet of fashion. A quote by Nick Knight, visionary of the fashion world and Director of SHOWstudio, explains this mantra:
‘SHOWstudio is based on the belief that showing the entire creative process—from conception to completion—is beneficial for the artist, the audience and the art itself.’
SHOWstudio’s projects open the doors to this closed exclusive world by pushing the boundaries of communicating fashion online.
Nick Knight and SHOWstudio have commissioned fashion illustrators to illustrate the latest catwalk shows straight from Milan, almost like an artist in residency programme.
The V&A x SHOWstudio collaboration is a display of raw talent to perfectly complement, celebrate and reinforce the message behind the V&A exhibition The Glamour of Italian Fashion 1945-2014.
The illustrators selected have chosen Italian designers as their inspiration for their drawings. In doing so an up close and personal perception and examination of Italian fashion expertise is exposed.
Often taking place at SHOWstudio, or documenting the clothes live at the shows, from the runway, these illustrations allow everyone to witness the creative process, and make visible design innovation, taking us on a wonderful exploration of the fashion world. So hop on board the tour and feast your eyes on what’s in store, fresh off the Catwalk.
