Support independent designers and makers at our Pop-Up Design Store!

November 6, 2020

The seasonal Design Store in preparation.

We’re excited to announce we’ve teamed up with Tea Green events once more to bring you a fabulous pop-up design store, connecting shoppers with 30 of Scotland’s best independent designers.

Opened this week, the store showcases the very best of Scottish design, from ceramics and illustrations to jewellery and textiles, just in time for the gift-giving season.

Supporting independent makers and designers has never been more crucial. It’s been at the heart of Tea Green’s business since starting out in 2014 which is why we’re delighted to be working with them again, following on from last year’s successful Festive Design Market.

The seasonal Design Store, open now until January 2021, introduces visitors and customers to a wonderful mix of independent Scottish designers who have been busy creating unique and covetable pieces that you won’t see everywhere, from eye-catching jewellery to tactile textiles, stylish homeware and limited edition prints.  Items range in price from £2.40 for Juniper Press cards to £228 for Vicki Higginson’s blown glass decanters with carved glass stoppers.

“With physical events not being possible this year, we remain committed to doing all we can to support the amazing community of creative talent working in Scotland. And with 30 designers on show, the Pop-Up Design Store is most definitely a feast for the eyes” says Tea Green founder Joanne MacFadyen.

There’s so much to discover when you visit the Pop-Up Design Store at V&A Dundee, but here are just a few of the lovely things you can expect to see.

Beth Lamont’s ceramic jewellery is inspired by minimal shapes and maximum colour and is loved for adding striking simplicity to an outfit.

Juniper Press takes inspiration from Scottish landscapes and Scandinavian and Eastern European folk art, using nature and plants as subject matter to create contemporary illustrations and prints.

Fun Makes Good was set up in 2009 by textiles graduate Eleanor Young. Specialising in contemporary patchwork, the studio produces bold, bright, design-led interior products.

S. K. WORKS are a multidisciplinary studio specialising in leatherwork and screen printing. They make products with purpose that fit perfectly into your everyday life and are designed to get more beautiful with age.

Kimberly Armstrong Glass works with glass and is inspired by geometry, architecture and the urban environment. Her collection of contemporary products includes homeware, sculptural objects and jewellery.

Do you have to book an entry time to visit the pop up shop?

Hi Kevin, you do yes. But if you’re passing by, you can always ask one of our Visitor Assistants who might have tickets on the door for the next time slot. Thanks!
