Messerschmitt KR200 Cabin Scooter.
‘Bubble cars’ were one of the first efforts to address fuel scarcity in car design. This example is part of a wave of extremely small European economy cars manufactured in reaction to potential increases in the cost of oil. As many Europeans became increasingly concerned following the 1956 Suez Crisis and ensuing spike in oil prices, compact and efficient ‘bubble cars’ became a popular and more environmentally friendly alternative.
