Details
Kalamkari is an ancient hand-painting technique originating in South India. Beautiful motifs are applied to fabric using a bamboo pen, known as a ‘kalam’, as part of a meticulous process involving dyeing, bleaching, printing and starching. The intricate patterns often depict flora, fauna and traditional iconography, rendered using natural dyes such as mustard, rust and indigo.
This colourful square scarf is dominated by red and yellow paisley motifs with an intricate border printed on cotton voile.
