Are you wondering how to become a professional photographer? Or how to get your portfolio noticed in the creative industry? We caught up with Hassan Gazali, founder of platform and production agency Take More Photos, to get his insider tips – from finding your visual style to the mistakes you should avoid, as well as his secret sauce for success.

Hassan founded Take More Photos in 2019 to amplify diverse and overlooked creative voices from London and beyond. Since then, they’ve helped launch the careers of countless photographers, creating distinctive campaigns for the likes of Google, Adidas, Levis and many more. Read on to find out what they’re looking for in the creatives they collaborate with, and how you can get involved.

How should an aspiring photographer find their style?

Shoot constantly and an authentic vision will emerge. Finding your style is a process of experimentation and self-discovery – explore different techniques, subjects and settings. Pay attention to what consistently excites and inspires you and allow yourself to fail. It often takes years to develop confidence in your style, but every step shapes your creative identity.

What mistakes do photographers make early in their careers?

One common mistake is expecting instant results in a craft that demands patience and dedication. New photographers also tend to undervalue networking and consistency while overemphasising gear. The technical aspects—exposure, lighting, editing—develop naturally through practice. Focus first on storytelling, forging a connection with your subjects and maintaining momentum. Persistence leads to growth.

How can photographers get their work noticed?

Social media is your portfolio window – share your work consistently and use your images to tell stories.

How can a photographer land paid jobs?

Build relationships with established photographers and consider volunteering as an assistant. Genuine connections often lead to real opportunities. Stay visible and persistent; quality work will attract meaningful attention.

What do you look for in photographers, and how can people get involved?

I look for photographers who bring authenticity and a unique vision to their craft. While talent is important, alignment with our values matters even more. If you want to get involved, share your portfolio, join our events, or reach out directly to collaborate. Fresh ideas and genuine passion often spark our most exciting opportunities.

How important is finding a creative community for a photographer’s success?

Creative communities are essential for support, inspiration and growth. Surrounding yourself with driven peers pushes your boundaries and helps refine your craft. These networks provide more than collaboration—they encourage you during challenges and celebrate your victories. Strong connections often evolve into career-defining partnerships.

Reflecting our recent collaboration with Take More Photos, ‘Spirit of east London’, what was it, and how could it inspire other creatives?

Our V&A East collaboration captured east London’s essence through diverse perspectives. Photographers were encouraged to explore the area’s vibrant culture, from its street life to hidden spaces. This project reminds us that every community holds untold stories. Thoughtfully documenting your local surroundings reveals universal narratives that resonate far beyond neighbourhood boundaries.
