The V&A has been selected by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to act as the cohort coordination and development team for a new fellowship scheme to enable early career researchers to gain experience in the galleries, libraries, archives and museums sector, through research projects hosted at Independent Research Organisations (IROs).
We will work closely with the AHRC and IROs to develop a diverse range of fellowship proposals. The V&A will deliver a programme of skills and career development activities for the fellows commencing in Autumn 2023, and I will be able to share details in the coming months.
To encourage a wide range of applications the V&A will convene a series of in person and online townhall meetings. In person townhalls will be held on the following dates, between 11am and 2pm.
- Edinburgh – 24 November 2022 (Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh)
- Northern Ireland – 29 November 2022 (Hillsborough Castle)
- London – 6 December 2022 (Victoria and Albert Museum, South Kensington)
- Cardiff – 13 December 2022 (National Museum Wales, Cardiff)
In addition, we will organise three online matchmaking events to give potential applicants the opportunity to ‘book a slot’ to speak with IRO representatives about their ideas. These online events will be held on the following dates:
- 21 November 2022 (2–4pm)
- 2 December 2022 (10am–12pm)
- 10 January 2023 (2–4pm)
The events will provide potential applicants and GLAM sector organisations interested as acting as project partners with an opportunity to meet representatives from the AHRC, scheme coordination and development team and IROs. There is no cost to attend.
