Eleven young photographers reflect on the times we live in to share these original photographs.
A Moment in Time is a body of work exploring the now; what sense or feeling this moment brings, and how might we capture this for the future.
Working with the V&A South Kensington’s Learning team and creatives Michael Akuagwu (multi-media based artist and designer) and Jude Amponsah (Graphic Designer, Photographer and Filmmaker), the group developed their practice through a five day programme in August 2026.
Through research within the V&A South Kensington, the group took inspiration from Photography Now, The Photography Centre’s Contemporary display. Working collaboratively, they pushed their practice, skills and knowledge; developing their craft as a collective and creating individual and original new work.
‘I have developed technically and grown more in generating ideas and concepts’
Emerging themes included nostalgia and memory, development of the self through human form, movement, and queerness. Creatives also explored how we visually define our generation through fashion and youth culture, how we carry our culture and how our heritage shapes us.
Each photographer was already creating inspiring work, but this week provided a dedicated space for creatives to deepen their practice and explore new possibilities, offering the opportunity to develop skills, share perspectives and present ideas.
‘I gained confidence in articulating my artistic approach’
Guests included Photographer Anais Stupka, and museum staff Isaac Huxtable (Assistant Curator, Photography) and Rachel Flaxman (Interpretation Producer). This programme was brought together by the V&A Young People’s Programme Team and supported throughout by Wen Sheng-Hong and Jasprit Singh.
‘My love for Photography has returned’
This work will be on show at the V&A South Kensington on 22 January 2027 during Make and Meet, an evening event for young artists to connect and create at V&A South Kensington.
