Beautiful, historic library interiors also mean historic library stores, and occasionally book storage areas will need some additional care and attention to ensure they continue to provide suitable storage for the future. Unfortunately, of course, this can limit book availability for a period. Some essential repair work is soon to take place in the National Art Library Crypt Store, to replace some defective mechanical book stacks. From the 1st November 2014 all books located in the Crypt store will be unavailable for approximately 3 months. All affected items will show as ‘unavailable’ on the Library catalogue and a list of pressmarks is available here. Library staff can assist you in looking for alternative titles, or help you locate the item you wish to see in another library. You can search for alternative locations for the books yourself, using online union catalogues such as Copac and WorldCat, or for serial publications you can try SUNCAT. You could also search Google Books to see if a digitised copy is available.

Could you tell me when the Crypt store will be open?
Thanks,
Brian.
The crypt is on schedule to open mid February, but we will be able to post the exact date soon. Thank you for bearing with us!
