Introduce an Arts and Crafts note to your cooking regimen with the V&A’s Seaweed potholder. Inspired by a hand-printed wallpaper in the V&A collections; this pattern was originally designed by John Henry Dearle for Morris & Co in 1901. Replicating the lush green pattern of Dearle’s original design, this piece is wadded for safety and includes a practical slip pocket.

About the artist

John Henry Dearle

John Henry Dearle was trained as a tapestry weaver by William Morris and by 1890 had become Morris & Company's chief textile designer. Some of the firm's most attractive woven textiles were produced under his direction. He was a skilled draughtsman and his naturalistic flowers were very popular at the beginning of the 20th century.
