This papier mâché bauble has been hand-made by artisans in Kashmir for Fair to Trade. Fair to Trade ensure products are manufactured under conditions that meet recognised employment standards, including fair wages, providing clean and safe working environments, and providing skills training and promotion. The delicate foliage design is taken from a wallpaper specimen designed by Lewis Foreman Day for Jeffrey & Co. circa 1887 — 1900, now held in the V&A archive.
