Two crabs
Ink and colour on paper by Katsushika Hokusai (1760-1849)
Japan, around 1808
Hokusai is perhaps Japan's most famous artist. He is best known for his designs for prints and printed books, although later in life he seems to have focussed increasingly on paintings. This painting of two crabs is one of seven paintings by the artist mounted in an album.
Custom printed on 280gsm smooth matte fine art paper.
