Artist: Edward Lear
The Red Bird, by Edward Lear (1812-88). Ink and watercolour. England, late 19th century. Lear drew 16 of these comic birds during his stay in Northern Italy about 1880, for Charles Geffrard Pirouet, then a small boy staying at the same hotel as the artist. This print is one of the sixteen.

Clear acrylic. We use clear acrylic glazing for safety and longevity.

FRAMING:

Finished and framed by hand in Sussex by skilled craftsmen using responsibly sourced solid wood mouldings. The finished product has a taped back and is supplied ready to hang.

PACKAGING:

Each print is made-to-order and carefully packaged to ensure safe transportation.

Edward Lear

Edward Lear was an English artist and illustrator known for his literary nonsense in poetry and prose and especially his limericks. One of Lear's admirers was Beatrix Potter who was fascinated by his nonsense rhymes and limericks. Both artists often wrote with a particular child in mind.
