Ghanaian artist El Anatsui said that "cloth is to the African what monuments are to Westerners".
Bringing people and patterns together in a vibrant composition, Mawuena Kattah captures a personal moment in this vibrant glazed ceramic artwork. Here, expertly reproduced on high-quality paper, the original artwork, consisting of nine tile panels, is on display at V&A East.
Mawuena Kattah's work draws on African wax print textiles, Iznik ceramic design and her extensive personal archive of family photographs taken in Ghana and London.
